Weekend events start Friday, August 5 at 11AM
Animal Care Division is taking part in the nationwide annual Clear the Shelters campaign in August to help more than 200 dogs and cats at the shelter find a forever family.
To celebrate the campaign, Animal Care Division will host a weekend-long kick-off event on Friday, August 5 with giveaways from Funky Buddha Brewery. They will also host a Family Fun Day on Saturday, August 6 and playgroups on Sunday, August 7 offering potential adopters a chance to see the dogs interact with each other. Each adopter will receive free pet supplies.
"Clear the Shelters is an amazing event and we are thrilled to be part of it," said Animal Care Director Emily Wood. "We really appreciate the support from the community to help find homes for dogs and cats. They deserve a happy family."
The free-roaming cat rooms and Tails and Tales library, a place for cat lovers and readers alike can snuggle and visit with adoptable cats, will also be open. The program was introduced earlier this year as a joint partnership between Animal Care and Broward County Library.
Broward County Animal Care is located at 2400 SW 42nd Street in Fort Lauderdale. Adopters can visit Broward.org/Animal to preview all available pets. Each adoptable dog and cat pet is spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. A Broward County license tag is also included. Shelter hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 11AM to 5:30PM. The facility is closed on Mondays.
Clear the Shelters is sponsored by Hill's Pet Nutrition and NBCUniversal Local. The campaign has helped more than 700,000 pets find homes in the past eight years.
