Animal Care Expresses Thanks to the Community

Broward

County of Broward issued the following announcement on Nov. 3.

Broward County Animal Care extends a big thank you to the public for their support during its recent "Find Your Boo!" Halloween promotion. During Halloween weekend, 19 dogs and cats were adopted.

"Thank you so much for stepping up when we asked for your help to empty our kennels. Your support made a big difference for those pets," said Emily Wood, Director, Broward County Animal Care. "We are now focused on finding homes for our remaining dogs and cats and continue to ask the community to adopt. It's the simplest, but most powerful thing residents can do to help our homeless animals. Getting our pets out of the shelter and into homes is critically important because it gives our dogs and cats the homes they deserve and frees up our shelter space and resources to care for additional animals as they enter our Adoption Center."

The shelter has approximately 100 dogs currently available for immediate adoption. Each pet has been spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and can leave immediately with their new families.

As a reminder, pet owners who wish to surrender their pet are asked to explore all alternatives before relinquishing to the shelter. Alternatives include inquiring with friends and family, contacting local rescue groups and rehoming through online sites like rehome.adoptapet.com/.

Residents who have found a pet are asked to hold the dog or cat and contact Animal Care at admissions@broward.org before bringing the animal to the shelter.
