Broward County issued the following announcement on Sept. 16.
Slate of volunteer EcoAction Days announced
October marks the beginning of a new slate of EcoAction Days, public workdays in which volunteers ages 13 and up help clear parks and natural areas of garbage and invasive plants. Participants should bring gloves, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and drinking water. They should also dress appropriately with long pants, closed-toe shoes, and long sleeves.
Preregistration is required, and all participants must complete a volunteer workday application beforehand. For volunteers 13 to 18, a parent/guardian signature must be included. Corporate and student groups are welcome. Participation in EcoAction Days can be used toward community service requirements. Contact site coordinator for group information and preregistration. The workdays run from 9AM to noon.
