County Issues Emergency Directive 21-A

23

County of Broward recently issued the following announcement.

Requires hospitals report data needed to better track resources

As the number of COVID-19 cases increases in Broward, positivity and hospital occupancy rates also continue to rise. Health officials confirm the rise in numbers is due to the highly contagious Delta variant and the number of residents in the County who are eligible for vaccination but remain unvaccinated.

County Administrator Bertha Henry has issued Emergency Directive 21-A, which requires hospitals to report to the County daily statistics of such key indicators as the number of available Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and ventilators, number of beds that can be converted to ICU beds if necessary and the number of new patients admitted daily.

“Broward and Miami-Dade counties are now reporting the highest number of new COVID-19 hospitalizations in the country,” said Henry. “We must collect and closely follow the various statistics across all hospitals to help entities in our community track, request and identify shortages in resources.”

Residents are reminded to wear facial coverings when indoors and in crowded places, wash their hands often, observe social distancing, and get vaccinated if they haven't already done so.

The Emergency Directive takes effect on Thursday, August 5, 2021 and remains in force until terminated by a subsequent Emergency Directive or Order.
