Broward County recently issued the following announcement.
Special event offers free adoptions and family fun
Animal Care will mark the 5th anniversary of its State-of-the-Art Adoption Center, located at 2400 SW 42nd Street in Fort Lauderdale, with a special adoption celebration on Saturday, August 28, from 11AM to 5PM. The event will feature food trucks, pet-related educational exhibits and prizes. Adoption fees for dogs and cats will be waived and free pet supplies will be provided.
“Our Adoption Center is a very special place where we are proud to offer world class animal care for the dogs and cats in our facility and exceptional programs and services to all Broward County residents,” said Emily Wood, Director of Animal Care and Adoption. "During this 5th year anniversary, we invite the public to learn what makes us special and how to partner with us for the betterment of the pets in our community.”
Animal Care Adoption Center officially opened to the public in 2016. The $16.5 million 40,000-square-foot building is fully air conditioned and nearly double the size of the old shelter that was located on 39th Street in Fort Lauderdale. The unique design incorporates natural light with a modern floor plan that helps to create spacious and bright customer service and animal care areas.
