Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick marks key milestones in her congressional tenure

Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick recently shared a series of tweets outlining notable achievements and ongoing initiatives related to her work in the U.S. Congress, representing Florida’s 20th District since 2022. Cherfilus-McCormick, who replaced Alcee Hastings, continues her efforts to address pivotal issues within the community and beyond, as reflected in her recent communications.

On April 7, 2025, Representative Cherfilus-McCormick commemorated the third anniversary of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson's confirmation to the U.S. Supreme stating, "Three years ago, the U.S. Senate confirmed Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson — making her the first Black woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. Her journey serves as an inspiration to us all and offers an important reminder that while some may try to diminish and erase our."

On April 8, 2025, the Congresswoman highlighted her efforts across party lines to support veterans. She expressed her concerns regarding the termination of a program aimed at providing foreclosure relief for veterans through a tweet where she mentioned, "Since coming to Congress, I’ve worked across party lines to make sure that our veterans don’t go without a roof over their head. I cannot fathom the logic behind ending a program that provides foreclosure relief to veterans on the brink of homelessness."

Additionally, on the same day, Cherfilus-McCormick honored Patti Lynn, a community activist and advocate for federal workers, by awarding her the 2025 NAPS Gold Standard Legislative Award. Through her tweet she remarked, "It was such an honor to recognize #FL20's very own Patti Lynn with the 2025 NAPS Gold Standard Legislative Award! Patti is a lifelong community activist and a champion for federal workers."
