On the morning of April 1, 2025, Cherfilus-McCormick announced a major financial initiative for students and residents in her district. She stated, "HUGE win for our #FL20 students! I presented a check for $1 MILLION to give our students and residents at @UFTL access to affordable housing They deserve to feel secure while furthering their education, and shouldn't have to worry about having a roof over their head." Later in the day, she highlighted the growing issue of housing affordability, stating "As housing costs rise, the possibility of home ownership drops.
