Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida's 20th district, recently shared her views on several critical issues through social media posts. Her comments touched upon the significance of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders, the urgency of hostage releases from Hamas, and concerns over cuts to USAID programs.

On February 17, 2025, Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick highlighted the importance of TPS holders in South Florida during a conversation with Jackie NBC6. She emphasized their role as essential workers in the community and pledged continued advocacy for vulnerable groups in the region. "I spoke with @JackieNBC6 on how vital TPS holders are to our #FL20 community. They are some of our hardest workers in South Florida, and their contributions are essential to our country."

Later that day, she addressed another pressing issue concerning hostages held by Hamas. In her communication with NBC6, she urged for their immediate release to ensure they return safely to their families. "I spoke with @nbc6 on how critical it is that every single hostage is released from Hamas immediately."

On February 18, 2025, Cherfilus-McCormick expressed her disapproval regarding the abrupt termination of over half of USAID’s programs. She criticized this action as an irresponsible approach to governance due to its potential life-threatening consequences. "Over half of USAID’s programs are life-saving. With the stroke of a pen, it was ripped away."
