Congressman Jared Moskowitz, representing Florida's 23rd District since 2023, has been vocal on social media regarding school safety and the commemoration of the Parkland shooting anniversary. With a background in law and public service, Moskowitz uses his platform to advocate for legislative reforms aimed at enhancing security measures in educational institutions.
On February 13, 2025, Congressman Moskowitz highlighted his legislative efforts through the SASS Act. He stated that "Through my SASS Act with @MarioDB and @RepTonyGonzales, school safety grant requests would be consolidated into a single application—a commonsense, bipartisan solution to cut red tape and ensure schools can more easily access critical safety tools that support school security."
The following day, February 14, marked the seventh anniversary of the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Moskowitz expressed his ongoing grief by posting: "It’s been 7 years since the shooting at my alma mater, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Time hasn’t lessened the pain of that horrific day. Please join me in remembering the 17 innocent lives taken from us too soon."
Later on February 14th, he reiterated his commitment to preventing future tragedies like Parkland by announcing new legislative initiatives. He shared: "17 innocent lives were lost 7 years ago at my alma mater, Marjory Stoneman Douglas. We acted after that day to protect schools, and it’s our jobs as lawmakers to keep students & faculty safe. I’m once again introducing bipartisan reforms to prevent another tragedy like Parkland."
