Congressman Jared Moskowitz, representing Florida's 23rd district since 2023, has recently taken to social media to discuss his legislative efforts aimed at enhancing school safety. His series of tweets on February 13, 2025, highlight initiatives that seek to address various aspects of security in educational environments.
In a tweet posted on February 13, 2025, Moskowitz announced his leadership role alongside Representative Brian Fitzpatrick in introducing the Measures for Safer School Districts Act (MSD Act). This bipartisan legislation aims to improve emergency response protocols, enhance notification systems, and strengthen both internal and external door security at schools. "Alongside @RepBrianFitz, I’m leading the new Measures for Safer School Districts Act (MSD Act), a set of bipartisan reforms to improve emergency response, bolster notification systems, and reinforce internal and external doors at our schools."
On the same day, Moskowitz also highlighted another piece of bipartisan legislation known as the EAGLES Act. Collaborating with Mario Diaz-Balart, this act is designed to augment the capabilities of the National Threat Assessment Center. The goal is to better track and mitigate potential school violence threats by providing local leaders with more resources for community safety. "My bipartisan EAGLES Act with @MarioDB would improve capabilities at the National Threat Assessment Center to better track, target, and mitigate school violence so local leaders have more tools to help keep their communities safe."
In another tweet from February 13th, Moskowitz emphasized his commitment to ensuring safe learning environments for children and teachers across all communities. He expressed that while Congress has more work ahead in this area, these proposals represent significant progress toward achieving safer schools. "Whether it’s my hometown of Parkland or any other community, we all want our kids and teachers to be safe in class. Congress has more work to do ensure schools are the safe places they should be, and this package of commonsense proposals will get us an important step closer."
