Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, representing Florida’s 20th district, shared reflections and announcements on her official social media platform. Her recent posts highlighted historical achievements in Congress and her own appointments to significant roles within the legislative body.

On January 22, 2025, Cherfilus-McCormick commemorated the legacy of Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm. "56 years ago today, Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm became the first Black woman sworn into Congress. Because of her courage and determination, the 119th Congress is 29 Black women strong. Her legacy continues to open doors and inspire Black women across the country to lead."

In another post on January 22, 2025, she announced new leadership roles she has taken on within Congress. "I'm honored to have been chosen by my colleagues to serve as the Chair of the Global Women's Issues Task Force for the @demwomencaucus, and as Region 8 whip for @housedemocrats! I am also excited to announce that I will continue to serve as co-chair of the Haiti Caucus."

Cherfilus-McCormick further elaborated on her objectives in these roles with a focus on collaboration and equality. On January 22, 2025, she stated: "These caucuses are another way for me to work with other members who share the same goals that I do: to deliver equal opportunity to hard-working Americans."
