Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, representing Florida's 20th district, has expressed her views on various pressing issues through a series of tweets. Serving in the U.S. Congress since 2022 after replacing Alcee Hastings, she has taken to social media to address matters concerning national security, racial discrimination, and international incidents.
On November 8, 2024, Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick emphasized the importance of maintaining democratic processes by stating: "We must also ensure a peaceful transition of power."
In another tweet posted on the same day, she addressed racial tensions in the United States. She highlighted that "Racist and threatening texts are targeting African Americans across the country, including our students. Extremists may feel emboldened in America, but we will not be intimidated nor ruled by fear. We must stand strong in the face of hate and protect our communities."
Later that day, Cherfilus-McCormick commented on an international incident involving Israeli soccer fans in Amsterdam. She conveyed her concern with these words: "I am horrified by the targeted attack on Israeli soccer fans in Amsterdam. These attacks, which are eerily reminiscent of a pogrom, must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. We must fight against antisemitism in the US and around the world."
