Road Closure: NE 2ND (ELLER) St – FEC Railroad Crossing Maintenance

The City of Deerfield Beach Environmental Services team would like to advise residents that Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) is scheduled to perform construction on the railroad crossing located on NE 2nd (Eller) St under the Dixie Highway overpass. Brightline is in receipt of a Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvement (CRISI) Program grant from the Federal Railroad Administration. This program funds projects that improve the safety, efficiency, and reliability of intercity passenger and freight rail. The location funded in the city is located at the FEC railroad crossing on NE 2nd Avenue and NE 2nd Street (Eller St). The scope of work at this intersection includes the installation of median islands to reduce the occurrence of drivers who bypass lowered gates, this treatment has proven highly effective in preventing death and injury.

Work is anticipated to begin Monday, December 19, 2022, and will be closed in both directions until Friday, December 23, 2022. Residents are encouraged to seek an alternate route.

Please find attached a copy of the public advisory, which includes additional information about the closure and detour routes.

For questions, contact David Rubio, Project Manager of Gonzalez & Sons Equipment, LLC at (305) 343-1023 or Environmental Services at (954) 480-4400.
