The City of Coral Springs, in partnership with the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs, will honor the brave men and women of the U.S. military who have given their lives in service to the nation with a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 30 at 9 a.m. at Veterans Park (8601 Royal Palm Blvd.)

The event will feature a keynote speech from U.S. Army veteran Brandon Casella. Casella is a South Florida native and Coral Springs resident who joined the U.S. Army just after the 9/11 attacks in 2001. After finishing the U.S. Army Infantry School in Fort Benning, GA, Casella took part in numerous deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan from 2003 to 2009. Today, Casella is a business owner who continues to support veterans through his service to the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs and through his support of several PTSD-focused charities.

“The military men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom deserve to be honored on Memorial Day and every day,” said Coral Springs Mayor Scott Brook. “It’s important for us to gather on this sacred day with veterans, active-duty, military, military families, and community members to remember the lives lost.”

The event will also feature the Presentation of Colors and Placing of the Wreath by the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department Honor Guard, Salute Volley, the playing of Taps by Coral Springs Police Honor Guard, and remarks from city officials.

Information about the city’s veterans’ programs, including Hometown Heroes, Veteran Recognition, and Memorial Bricks at Veterans Park can be found at coralsprings.org/veterans.
