On March 5, 2025, Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick highlighted the role of federal workers in ensuring government functionality. She stated: "Federal workers are there to make sure that our government works for the people it serves — from our nurses at the West Palm Beach VA to the person processing your Social Security check. Drastic layoffs and cuts not only hurt them — they hurt all of us."
In another tweet posted on the same day, she addressed concerns raised by seniors regarding potential Social Security cuts. Reflecting on her recent town hall meeting in Tamarac, she noted: "At my town hall last week in Tamarac, I heard directly from seniors who are scared about Social Security cuts. More than 5 million seniors in Florida depend on it. I’ll keep fighting to protect them and our way of life here in South Florida."
Later that day, Cherfilus-McCormick discussed the impact of tariffs on American families' expenses. She remarked: "Tariffs will drive up costs for the average American family between $1,600 and $2,000 per year. That means South Florida families will pay more on groceries, clothing, and gas."
