Renaissance Charter School at University recently issued the following announcement.
We are very proud and want to congratulate Saruba Lopez-Hernandez from Renaissance Charter School at Tapestry who was awarded the overall winner of the SUSA American Hero over the four regions of Florida. Mrs. Lopez is a civics teacher and is known for immersing her students into historical events, by dressing up in characters such as King George lll, a patriot solider, a suffragette, a judge or Rosie the Riveter and bringing momentous occasions in history out of the text book and into the classroom.
Mrs. Lopez was awarded $2,500 and a two-year lease on a 2021 Lexus US Compact SUV. Thank you to JM Lexus for partnering with Charter Schools USA and recognizing a teacher from their network with the New American Hero Award.
