City of Fort Lauderdale issued the following announcement on Aug. 20

Based on satisfactory test results, the City of Fort Lauderdale is reducing the boundaries of the Precautionary Advisory for Water-Related Recreational Activities in the area of SE 15 Street and the Intracoastal Waterway (see waterway sampling test results ). The advisory was issued on August 18 as a result of a 16-inch sewer main break that has been repaired and is back in service.

The Precautionary Waterway Advisory WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT for the Seminole River, which is generally bounded by SE 15 Street to the north; SE 16 Street and Grande Drive to the south; the Intracoastal Waterway to the east; and Cordova Road to the west (see map below).

Swimming, fishing, jet-skiing, paddle-boarding, kayaking, canoeing or engaging in any water-related activities should be avoided within the advisory area.

Daily water testing in the affected area will continue and the precautionary advisory will remain in effect until further notice.

Water-related recreational activities may be resumed in waterways outside the advisory area.
