Coral Springs residents are invited to make a splash for safety at our Drowning Prevention Event hosted by the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department on Sunday, May 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cypress Park Pool (1300 Coral Springs Dr.)

This family-friendly event will include free admission to Cypress Park Pool, and will feature a mix of educational and entertaining components, including swimming safety activities, CPR lessons, music, and prizes.

“Accidental drowning is the number one cause of death for children under age four in Broward County. As a father and Fire Chief I recognize the importance of prioritizing water safety for children, parents, and caregivers,” said Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department Chief Michael McNally. “Free, community-wide events like the one we are hosting help to spread awareness and resources available to promote water safety for children.”

At the event the city will distribute Water Smart Broward swim coupons for free-to-low-cost swim lessons for use at Coral Springs pool facilities. In addition, CPR instruction will be provided along with resources on how to become CPR and first-aid certified.

May is recognized nationally as Drowning Prevention Month. The City of Coral Springs, along with communities across the country, recognize the importance of shining a light on drowning safety and prevention to work towards eliminating a preventable tragedy.
