On March 5, 2025, Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick expressed concern over ongoing challenges to the Voting Rights Act. She stated that "even 60 years after the Voting Rights Act was signed, this landmark legislation remains under attack." The congresswoman noted efforts to impose new barriers at the ballot box and undermine democracy. She mentioned her collaboration with House Democrats in introducing the John R.
