Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, representing Florida's 20th district in the U.S. Congress, has been actively engaging with her constituents and addressing significant national issues through social media. Her recent tweets highlight commemorations of historical events, legislative initiatives for healthcare reform, and international efforts to combat global health crises.

On December 7, 2024, Cherfilus-McCormick marked the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack by honoring those who lost their lives. She stated: "Today is a day that will forever live in infamy. 83 years ago, 2,043 Americans were killed in the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. We honor their commitment to our country and remember their brave service."

The following day, on December 8, she announced new legislation aimed at making healthcare more affordable for certain populations. She tweeted: "Health care should never be expensive. I introduced the Dual Eligible Americans Living (DEAL) with Obesity Act alongside @mikekellyPA to provide coverage of weight loss drugs under Medicare Part D for dually eligible Medicare and Medicaid recipients living with obesity."

Later on December 8, Cherfilus-McCormick shared her participation in a discussion about the impact of PEPFAR on fighting HIV/AIDS globally. She expressed gratitude towards an organization hosting this event: "I recently discussed the significant impact of the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) on combating the global HIV/AIDS epidemic. Thank you to the Business Council of International Understanding for hosting this event!"
