City Receives $733,522 in Mortgage Assistance for Residents

Coralsprings

City of Coral Springs issued the following announcement on Sept. 28.

The city has received federal funding allocation as part of the Community Block Grant Program, from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, to provide mortgage assistance for homeowners in Coral Springs. To qualify, residents must demonstrate they experienced a loss of income, reduction in hours of employment, or unemployment, as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Of the financial assistance available for residents, Mayor Scott Brook, said, “In addition to the more than $2 million in CARES Act funding the city distributed for rental and utility assistance, I am so proud that we are also assisting homeowners who suffered financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The coordination and allocation of funds by city staff truly demonstrates our commitment to ensure Coral Springs receives our fair share of federal funding which directly benefits residents.”

If granted, assistance will be provided for past due mortgage payments, escrow, or other fees from April 1,2020 until present. Financial assistance must be paid directly to the service provider/lender and is limited to a maximum award of $10,000 per homeowner.
