COVID-19 Update: City Facilities to Require Facial Covering

1

City of Coral Springs issued the following announcement on July 26.

Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases, specifically the Delta Variant, effective tomorrow, Tuesday, July 27, 2021, all employees, and visitors are required to wear a facial covering in all city facilities, regardless of vaccination.

Of the return to wearing facial coverings at city facilities, City Manager Frank Babinec said, “The rapid spread of the COVID-19 Delta Variant is a public health concern, especially for those who are unvaccinated. Since the start of the pandemic, our greatest priority has been protecting the health and safety of our workforce and the residents we serve. We have relied on the guidance and expertise of public health professionals, like our Medical Director, Dr. Peter Antevy, who recommends we resume the use of facial coverings to reduce the spread of the virus.”

Florida accounts for 20% of all COVID-19 cases in the nation. On Friday, the state’s positivity rate was 15.1% and 10.9% in Broward County. Health professionals recommend all those over the age of 12 be vaccinated to prevent the severity of the illness and reduce spread.

The vaccination site located at the Coral Square Mall is operational from Wednesday through Sunday, administering the Pfizer vaccine. No appointment necessary. Learn more: www.coralsprings.org/vaccines
