City of Fort Lauderdale issued the following announcement on Oct. 15
The City of Fort Lauderdale has launched the Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) program, which offers assistance with rent, mortgage, and utility payments for residents living within the city limits. Priority will be given to individuals who did not receive assistance under the COVID-19 State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) program. Fully completed applications will be accepted and reviewed on a first-ready, first-served basis until funding is exhausted. The program will not maintain a waiting list.
Overview of CRF Rent, Mortgage and Utility Assistance Program
Eligible households requesting rent and utility assistance may receive up to a maximum of $7,000 in total combined benefits.
Eligible households requesting mortgage and utility assistance may receive up to a maximum of $10,000 in total combined benefits.
The program offers assistance with outstanding payments that fall within the grant performance period from March 2020 to December 2020 and that can be directly attributed to the impacts of COVID-19.
How to Apply for CRF Rent, Mortgage and Utility Assistance
- Visit the Housing Foundation of America website and complete the personal details section (e.g., name, address, email, phone number, etc.) to access the application packet.
- Download and complete the application.
- Once the applicant’s residential address is verified as being located within the city limits of Fort Lauderdale, an email will be forwarded to the email address provided by the applicant with directions on how to upload the completed application and supporting documents to a ShareFile account.
- Individuals needing assistance may call 1-800-579-4119, Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
