On June 15, 2025, Cherfilus-McCormick expressed her appreciation for paternal figures with a message celebrating their influence. She stated, “Today, we honor the fathers, grandfathers, stepdads, and father figures who lead with love, strength, and quiet resilience. Your guidance shapes families, uplifts communities, and inspires future generations.” The Congresswoman extended her gratitude specifically to fathers in South Florida and beyond.
The following day on June 16, 2025, she highlighted a partnership with Representative Darren Soto to promote the music scene in Broward County. She tweeted “Partnering with @RepDarrenSoto, I’m proud to highlight the rich and diverse sounds coming out of Broward County — a true reflection of our community’s culture and creativity.” Cherfilus-McCormick emphasized the role of music as a catalyst for social change.
Later that same day on June 16, she voiced strong opposition against proposed cuts to Medicaid by House Republicans. Her tweet read “WTH?! House Republicans are trying to kick 12 million people off Medicaid. I’ve been going city to city hosting town halls—everyone is struggling right now. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick was born in Brooklyn in 1979 and currently resides in Miramar. A graduate of Howard University with a BA in 2001 and St. Thomas University with a JD in 2010, she replaced Alcee Hastings as the representative for Florida’s 20th district after his passing.
