Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, who represents Florida’s 20th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed constituents through a series of posts on her official social media account. The messages covered topics including Labor Day observances, mobile office outreach efforts, and advocacy for veterans’ healthcare rights.
On September 1, 2025, Cherfilus-McCormick marked the national holiday by stating: “On this #LaborDay, we honor the hardworking men and women who have built and continue to sustain our great nation. Today, we celebrate their contributions and reaffirm our commitment to fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, and the dignity every worker deserves.”
Two days later, on September 3, she announced expanded constituent services with a mobile office initiative: “The #FL20 Mobile Office is hitting the road! Check out our upcoming stops—we’re bringing services directly to your community. Need help with Social Security, immigration, or another federal issue? We’re here to assist you. Swipe to find out when we’ll be near you!”
Later that same day, Cherfilus-McCormick posted about healthcare access for veterans: “Veterans deserve comprehensive healthcare, including full access to reproductive services. I’m proud to stand in solidarity with my colleagues today in defense of reproductive freedom for our veterans. We cannot allow a rollback of critical care and basic rights.”
Cherfilus-McCormick has represented Florida’s 20th District since 2022 after succeeding Alcee Hastings in Congress. She previously served in the Florida House of Representatives and holds degrees from Howard University (BA) and St. Thomas University (JD). Born in Brooklyn in 1979 and currently residing in Miramar at age 44, Cherfilus-McCormick continues to focus on issues such as labor rights and veteran care while maintaining active engagement with her constituents.
