Known for her advocacy on various social issues, she has addressed topics ranging from historical military contributions to contemporary international affairs.

On February 5, 2025, Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick highlighted the significant role of the 6888th Battalion during World War II. She stated, “The 6888th Battalion was instrumental to WWII war efforts, clearing out the mail backlog in half the expected time and overcoming sexism and racism while serving.” She emphasized their dedication as a testament to resilience and perseverance, aligning with themes celebrated during Black History Month.

In a tweet dated February 6, 2025, she invited constituents to participate in a Tele-Town Hall event. The congresswoman announced, “Join me TOMORROW for a Tele-Town Hall to hear from guest speakers like @senatorosgood, commissioner Hazelle Rogers, Paul Chavez with @Am4ImmJustice and @frandleyjulien on the rights and protections immigrants have when dealing with ICE.” This event aims to address immigrant rights and protections.

Later that day, Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick expressed concerns over U.S. foreign policy regarding Gaza. She remarked, “The idea that the United States would ‘take control’ of Gaza, displacing millions of Palestinians against their will is dangerous. We cannot go down that road.” Her statement reflects apprehension about potential geopolitical strategies.
