Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, who represents Florida’s 20th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on July 16, 2025, highlighting her recent diplomatic engagement, advocacy for veterans, and office internship program.

In one post dated July 16, 2025, Cherfilus-McCormick wrote about her meeting with Haiti’s Prime Minister: “It was an honor to meet with the Prime Minister of Haiti, Mr. Alix Didier Fils-Aimé. Our conversation was productive, reaffirming our shared values and our commitment to the security of the Haitian people. Later that day, she addressed support for military veterans in another tweet: “Veterans put everything on the line for this country. We owe them more, not less.   They stood up for us. Cherfilus-McCormick also acknowledged her office interns in a third post: “Our interns are the heart of our office and play a vital role in serving the community. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick has represented Florida’s 20th District since 2022 after succeeding Alcee Hastings. She previously served in the Florida House of Representatives and has been recognized for her work both locally and nationally. Born in Brooklyn in 1979 and currently residing in Miramar at age 44, Cherfilus-McCormick holds degrees from Howard University (BA) and St. Thomas University (JD).
