Congressman Jared Moskowitz, who serves Florida’s 23rd District in the U.S. Congress, shared his perspectives on pressing issues through recent tweets. A former member of the Florida House of Representatives, Moskowitz has been an active voice in his district since taking office.
On April 23, 2025, Moskowitz expressed his grave concerns over budget cuts affecting the National Weather Service (NWS). He emphasized that such “Funding and staffing cuts at the National Weather Service are already threatening the safety of our communities.” Moskowitz stated his efforts to reinstate employees and protect these critical programs from further reductions.
Later the same day, Moskowitz commented on the potential elimination of the Direct File option, which provides Florida taxpayers with cost-effective tax filing alternatives. He stated, “Direct File has offered FL taxpayers an easier and more affordable option to file returns outside the pricey tax prep industry, and getting rid of that will make this process even more expensive and complicated.” He is actively participating with colleagues to appeal to officials for the preservation of this service.
Moskowitz also extended a welcome to military personnel attending Fleet Week in Port Everglades. At 20:09 UTC, he wrote, “To the men and women in uniform visiting Port Everglades for Fleet Week, welcome to Fort Lauderdale! We’re grateful for your service and your time this week showing Florida families the important work of our U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.”
Jared Moskowitz, born in Coral Springs, Florida, in 1980, has a distinguished educational background with a BA from George Washington University and a JD from Nova Southeastern University. He resides in Parkland and continues to represent his constituents, building on his previous roles in state and county offices.
