Free Recording Notification Service Available for Property Owners

Service alerts owners of recorded documents impacting property transfer

The Records, Taxes & Treasury Division now offers a free Recording Notification Service (RNS) that will send an email alert to property owners if a document changing or updating the ownership of the property is recorded. Property owners can register to request the monitoring of names and property identification numbers.

This RNS service cannot prevent an unauthorized document from being recorded; however, it does provide an automatic email notification that will assist a property owner in reviewing a document to determine if the recorded document was executed by the owner.

The names registered must match the name (Grantor/Grantee) on the document recorded into the public record. As a document is recorded using a monitored name or property identification number, a notice will automatically be sent to the email address under which that name was registered.

This is a separate service from the Property Appraiser’s Owner Alert notifications. We encourage property owners to sign up for both services.
