DFB Ocean Rescue Wins Big at National Competition

Please join the City of Deerfield Beach in congratulating and celebrating Ocean Rescue Chief Mike Brown and his team of elite lifeguards who dominated the 2022 United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) Championships in Hermosa Beach, California.

The national competition was held August 11-13, and more than 550 competitors hit the sand ready to swim, paddle, and row their way to victory. This competition boasts the top ocean rescue athletes in America. So, it is with great pride that we announce that Deerfield Beach lifeguards made quite the impression on the rest of the nation as they walked away with the following major victories:

Deerfield Beach wins 1st place, National Champion team

Roman Strohmenger 1st, International Iron Man (30-35yrs)

Roman Strohmenger & Dylan Narcowich 1st, Paddle Board Rescue

Dylan & Roman, finalists Individual Paddle

Chris Hoch & Kevin Jones 1st and 3rd, Open Row (30-35yrs)

Roman, Dylan, & Dan Lenehan 2nd, Open Paddle Relay

Roman and Dylan 5th, Open Taplin Relay

The men and women of Deerfield Beach Ocean Rescue tackle dangerous ocean conditions all throughout the year and save countless lives. The City of Deerfield Beach is fortunate to have this group of world-class athletes representing its municipality and protecting its residents and visitors.
