On April 17, 2025, Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick underscored the financial strain faced by her constituents, stating, “Nobody should have to choose between paying for groceries or rent. That’s why — of all the money I delivered for #FL20 last year — more than $10 million went directly to meeting our local housing needs. Thank you @cityofsunrise for hosting such an impactful town hall.”
Later that day, Cherfilus-McCormick criticized proposed Medicaid cuts, pointing out the adverse impact on her district’s residents by stating, “Behind Republicans’ $880 billion cuts to Medicaid are real people who will lose their health coverage and get hurt. That includes more than 149,000 people in #FL20. It is unconscionable to dismantle lifeline programs and jeopardize basic care for our most vulnerable.”
