On November 12, 2024, Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick marked Veteran’s Day by visiting her district to express gratitude to veterans for their service. She stated, “In honor of Veteran’s Day, I toured the district to connect with our veterans and thank them for their unwavering service and courage to our country. Freedom is not free. Thank you to @cityofplantation, @cityofsunrise, and North Lauderdale for honoring our #FL20 veterans.”

The following day, November 13, 2024, she urged the Senate to pass a significant piece of legislation that would impact public servants in her district. She tweeted, “The Senate must pass this act so @POTUS can sign this act into law and securely deliver millions of overdue benefits back to our public servants in #FL20.”

On the same day, Congresswoman Cherfilus-McCormick announced the passage of the bipartisan Social Security Fairness Act. She expressed its importance for educators and first responders in her district: “Last night, I joined my colleagues to pass the bipartisan #SocialSecurityFairnessAct. Our teachers and first responders in #FL20 deserve to receive the benefits they paid into. This act will return these earned benefits to Floridians.”
